LOCATED
Alpha Company, Mike Reenan
Here's Mike's note to us - if you remember Mike, give him a holler
My name is Michael Terrence (Mike) Reenan. I served in A Company ,6/31, from 2/17/69 until 3/24/69. I was wounded near the Plain of Reeds, along with about twenty-four others - three of whom were killed. Although at the time I didn't think that the gunshot wound in my elbow was very serious, I spent a week in the field hospital in Dong Tam, a week in Vung Tau, and two weeks in Japan en route to the Army Orthopedic Hospital at Valley Forge, Pa. After a couple of months in physical therapy, I was able to serve out the remainder of my commitment at Ft. Knox, Ky.
I believe that I am the unknown soldier that you have listed as, "Mike Reiser." I was only with the unit for about a month. I couldn't write for a while, due to the elbow injury, and the only two guys that I knew were Ray Abe and Dan Rose.
I found your site, and thought about contacting you a couple of years ago, when a good friend of mine was contacted about going to a 9th Infantry reunion. I felt rather stupid, though, having never tried to contact anyone in forty years. At this time, I would appreciate it very much if you would add my name to the membership list. ( I was a PFC when I was shot.)
Thank you, Mike Reenan
Charlie Company
Harold Price
From Ronnie Ponder - Harold had received your letter asking him to sign in on the site but had not acted on it. Diana and I made a trip to Georgia and surprised him at his Auto Supply Store. It was great to see him again after all these years. He is excited about getting together this year.
Jim Meza
HHC
James Dietz
Turns out Jim Dietz and Mike Reenan are friends. One day Jim showed up wearing an Octofoil cap and he and Mike started talking about Vietnam. Turns out not only were they neighbors growing up living on different ends of a long road but, they were both with the 9th, 6/31 in Vietnam at the same time. Small world.
Jim is hoping to attend the Reno reunion with Mike in August.
